“With over 2,000 volunteers a year, we needed a system (GivePulse) that would track multiple streams of data, as well as be extremely user- friendly for a wide range of volunteer and staff demographics.” - New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

When it came time for the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) to transition to a new volunteer management system, they didn’t take the decision lightly. After researching and assessing over a dozen platforms, they chose GivePulse as their volunteer management system.

According to their team, GivePulse was the only system that met their list of requirements, and more specifically, GivePulse allowed NOAHH to host fundraisers, ticketed events, volunteer opportunities, and more, all while meeting their reporting needs.

Since adopting the platform in 2016, NOAHH has leveraged GivePulse to support and enhance its various programs.

“We looked at probably 12 to 15 volunteer platforms before finally finding GivePulse and GivePulse was the only platform that really had the capacity to do everything that we wanted.”- Lindsey Lohr, Marketing & Donor Relations Manager, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

The GivePulse platform offers a variety of event types, including one that enables volunteers to effortlessly browse opportunities and choose their own times via a calendar. This flexibility allows users to customize their service schedule, making the sign-up process incredibly straightforward and accessible for volunteers with diverse availability.

“Users can easily go in and pick if they want to do 1 hour, they can do, you can change it to 30 minutes or an hour, 2 hour increments and that is super easy for the volunteers on the other side of the screen.”- Lindsey Lohr, Marketing & Donor Relations Manager, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

The GivePulse platform enables staff to efficiently generate detailed transcripts and reports, streamlining critical administrative tasks. Particularly, NOAHH uses this feature to verify service hours for court-ordered volunteers and to accurately report data to various state funding sources, ensuring transparency and accountability across the organization’s initiatives.

“Pulling the reports on GivePulse is super easy because you can actually search by any of the information that you know about a person to pull it up… we have a lot of volunteers in our Restore that are mandated by the court to do volunteer hours and so I have to print a transcript for them once a month and show how many hours they've completed and so that feature is super useful, just to be able to send their officer all of that information; like it's very clear.”- Rainelle Lushina, Program Director, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

The GivePulse kiosk feature is a critical tool for Habitat ReStore cashiers and build site leaders, allowing them to manage volunteer flow with ease. By facilitating real-time clock-ins and clock-outs directly from their respective stations, the kiosk eliminates the need for manual logs and reduces administrative burden. This immediate tracking ensures that volunteer hours are captured with high accuracy across diverse project sites, providing the organization with a reliable, unified data stream that reflects active participation in every location.

“We do not have a dedicated volunteer manager, so having a system that many of our staff could use from different locations, with different needs, like a house leader checking in volunteers at a build site, or an office employee verifying a corporate partner's total number of employees who volunteered was very important to us.”- New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

The transition to GivePulse marked a turning point for the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, replacing a volunteer management system often described as "confusing" and cumbersome with a user-friendly interface. This shift has resulted in a dramatic decline in volunteer complaints and a surge in positive feedback. Both seasoned staff and new volunteers remarked on the platform's user-friendly design, noting how seamlessly it integrates into their daily workflows and simplifies the entire engagement process from start to finish.

“Our old platform was really confusing to a lot of our volunteers…I have not had any complaints with GivePulse; everyone loves it!”- Lindsey Lohr, Marketing & Donor Relations Manager, New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity
